Harambee Avenue

The Kenyatta International Conference Centre was built in 1973, shortly after Coronation Avenue was renamed. Initially planned to have four storeys, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta requested for the building’s structure to exceed the original concept while it’s roof a modern resemblance of a traditional African hut. It was Nairobi’s tallest building until Times Tower was constructed in 1997.

Today, Coronation Avenue is Harambee Avenue – one of the streets where Kenya’s prominent offices are located.
