#KeChristmas

Hello Kenya!

Its our birthday – and we are 54! Jamhuri Day is special (as all birthdays are) – its our independence day, the day Kenya became a republic and we moved from Kenya Colony to Jamhuri ya Kenya. But its also the official beginning of the festive season!

Guys of biashara know that if the deal isn’t sealed by the 12th, forget about it; employees have already filled leave forms; Christmas holiday plans are sealed, whether its shags or coasto; prices for buses, ma3s and plane tickets are already creeping up. This is the festive season in Kenya – its how we do.

So here at Paukwa we are celebrating 12 Days of Kenyan Christmas – that’s right! Each day we will shine a light on those things that make #KeChristmas truly special for us.

Your rela’s will love you for it, your co-workers will be pleasantly surprised and if you decide to buy a new sofa set for mama, your 2018 is already off to flying start.

On the second day of Christmas…

Do you know that feeling you get when you walk into a mall and you get surprised to see the Christmas decor up? It signifies that the year is almost closing – for some its panic stations, for other it’s the start fo that most wonderful time of the year. Krismasi inakaribisha. Our towns and cities are transformed with Christmas decorations from the simplicity of shops with Father Christmas painted on them, to malls lighting up the night sky. We get happy (no doubt KPLC does too!). Christmas lighting warms our hearts and prepares us for the season of giving.
This Christmas how are you decorating your home?

On the third day of Christmas…

We gave back to society.
What better way to begin the season than to share moments with those less fortunate in our community? ‘Tis the season for happiness and laughter –and sharing moments that bring joy to those around us is a great way to spend the holiday.
How are you giving back this Christmas season?

On the fifth day of Christmas…

We sing and we sing – the radio is full of Christmas carols and while some are still stuck on Jingle Bells for snow we have never seen (apart from that one super cold day in Kinangop - remember that??) most are in the spirit of carols that are revamped for our #KeChristmas.

On the seventh day of Christmas…

We’re not just waiting for Santa – or in this case, Father Christmas, we’re dressing up in our best Christmas wear.
There’s always something to look forward to when it comes to the festive season and having that special attire makes it even more fun! What are you wearing this #KeChristmas?

On the eighth day of Christmas…

Make someone's Christmas with a present - big or small, as it's always the thought that counts. A gift makes someone feel appreciated, loved and seen.

We’re gifting each other! If you haven’t done some Christmas shopping – you might be in a little bit of trouble.
Wrapping paper is almost being sold out at our local supermarkets and we need to get the gifts under our trees or ready for exchange as part of our #KeChristmas !

Tunasafiri… Au sio? All roads are leading out of town – to the countryside, to the coast, away with friends or in search of family - you name it! Time away from the hectic ways of normal life is usually a plan for the holidays. Our prayer is that you travel safe this season - as we say in Kenya, journey mercies 🙏🏾.

Worship

On the twelfth day of Christmas…

It’s Christmas Eve and we’re reflecting on the season through worship. In years gone by people would gather on groups and walk from ridge to ridge, home to home across villages singing carols. Ask a grandparent how their #KeChristmas was celebrated. You may just be surprised.

In 2017 we gather at our different churches to listen to the word about the birth of Christ – the reason for the #KeChristmas season.

Be blessed this Christmas Eve
