One of Nairobi’s earliest highways divided the general business location of Nairobi from the residential area welcoming those walking, cycling or driving into the Central Business District. In 1969, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta officiated the opening of the park in its boundaries to the general public naming it Uhuru Park. Originally called Princess Elizabeth Way, this hallmark highway is what we know today as Uhuru Highway – a reminder of our freedom!
