Since time immemorial, Africans have marked different stages of life through rites of passage. A rite is defined as a social custom ceremony or a ritual. We take a closer look at the rituals within our Kenyan communities to get a sense of where we have come from but more importantly to understand our diversity. The rites featured will start from the birth and naming ceremonies to the coming-of-age rituals, to marriage festivities and finally the process of laying those who have passed to rest.
