Blada relied on an inch wide cut ‘string’ of elastic. The material was often attained from worn out tyres that were no longer in use. Two to three children were ideal for the game where one would demonstrate their level of flexibility through jumping into and out of the blada that was tied to the knees or waist of the other two players, or one player and a grill.
