Did you know that the name Homa Bay is derived from two prominent physical features within the county? The first half is named after Mount Homa, known in Dholuo as Got Marahuma. This mountain offers a wonderful point to look out over the magnificent bay that sits at the end of Winam Gulf. Homa Bay County is also a celebration destination. Every year, a few days before Christmas, there is a two day immersive celebration called Rusinga Cultural Festival.
